The clinic relies on a robust volunteer program to support our staff team and the overall work of the clinic. We look for volunteers with a wide array of skills and experience, who hold values which align with those of the clinic. We strive to create an atmosphere for volunteerism that is accessible and inclusive, and we give preference to volunteers from within the Point Douglas neighbourhood who utilize the clinic’s services.

Mount Carmel Clinic follows a best practice model based on the social determinants of health. We work from a pro-choice, harm-reduction, trauma-informed lens that focuses on values such as self-determination and non-judgement.
